1. Raw Material Preparation
The primary raw materials for glass are quartz sand (which provides silicon), soda ash (sodium carbonate, which lowers the melting point), and limestone (calcium carbonate, which increases hardness). Additional materials such as dolomite and feldspar are also added to adjust properties. These raw materials are crushed, screened, and impurities removed before being mixed in precise proportions to form the "batch."
2. Melting
The batch is fed into a glass melting furnace and melted at approximately 1500°C to form a uniform, bubble-free glass melt. This step is crucial, requiring strict temperature and time control to prevent bubbles or stones (impurity particles) from remaining in the glass, which could compromise the strength and appearance of the stein.

3. Molding
Depending on the shape of the beer mug (such as a pilsner, wheat, or pint), there are two main molding methods:

4. Annealing
After forming, the glass cup contains internal stress, making it prone to breakage. Annealing is required. The cup is placed in an annealing furnace and slowly heated to 500-600°C (near the softening point of the glass). After holding for a period of time, it is slowly cooled to release internal stress and enhance stability.
