In the national standard GB11856-1997 for brandy, it is divided into four levels: premium (X.O), premium (V.S.O.P), first level (V.O), and second level (Samsung and V.S). Among them, X.O has a minimum age of 20-50 years, V.S.O.P has a minimum age of 6-20 years, VO has a minimum age of 3 years, and the second level has a minimum age of 2 years.
1. United States
Overall, it is believed that brandy is an alcoholic beverage that is fermented with fruit juice or fruit wine or its residue, distilled to within [95% (V/V)], and the distillate has the typical characteristics of this product.
It can be completely disease-free, mature fruit juice or jam fermented, or it can be juice with less than 20% (by weight) of skin residue added, or juice with no more than 30% of alcohol residue added (by volume), or both, fermented and distilled. Before brandy, it is named after the fruit used, but grape brandy is also directly referred to as brandy and must be aged in oak barrels for at least 2 years. If the aging time is insufficient, it must be marked as "immature".
Skincar brandy is a brandy distilled from fruit skin residue.
Super standard brandy is distilled purely from rancid fruit juice, jam, or wine (but without SO2), without the typicality of raw materials.

Brandy that can be sold on the market must be made from fresh Grape juice without sugar or alcohol, fermented and distilled, and must be aged for at least three years.
3. South Africa
Brandy must be distilled from unsweetened fresh wine, with no less than 30% of the alcohol distilled in a pot distillation pot [alcohol content<75% (V/V)] and the remaining amount being grape alcohol or wine alcohol [95% (V/V)] with an alcohol content of 75-92% (V/V).
Brandy must be aged in oak barrels for three years.
4. Australia
Brandy is a strong liquor beverage with distilled alcohol content less than 94.8% (V/V) brewed from fresh grapes, which should be typical.
Brandy should contain no less than 25% (by volume) of alcohol distilled in a pot distillation pot [alcohol content<83% (V/V)], stored in oak barrels for no less than two years, with a methanol content of less than 3g/L [100% (V/V) ethanol].
It prohibits the use of alcohol added wine to distill brandy, and also does not allow the addition of grain alcohol. For imported brandy, a certificate issued by the country of origin stating the use of pure wine distillation must be attached.
